Silhouette Shade Features: Sublime Atmosphere

“Golden Hour” is that magical time of day when everything around us seems bathed in warm light. Whether it’s just after sunrise or right before sunset, the sunlight appears diffused and golden. Want to recreate that serene glow in your home? Then let’s introduce you to Silhouette® Shades. These sheer shades invite soft light into your home while blocking out the harsh rays. They’ll help you create your own golden glow throughout the day. Ready to learn more? Let’s explore the Silhouette Shade features that will create the ideal home atmosphere.

The Colors

When you think of sheer shades, it’s easy to imagine just the sheers. However, one of the Silhouette Shade features is the solid fabric vanes’ color.

We offer a stunning range of fabric choices from neutral to bold. Sometimes, an adventurous or dark color is the perfect choice to enhance your space.

Operating Features

How would you like to operate your Silhouette Shade features? Do you prefer manual control or would you like motorization? Would you prefer a cord, wand, or is cordless functionality a must? These are great questions to ask as you explore your options.

The Hunter Douglas Silhouette collection offers both corded and cordless options, and you can even choose motorization. Whether you opt for individual motorization for specific windows or full-home automation, you can control your shades with a remote or device.

Is Two Better Than One?

100% we think “Yes!” Silhouette shade features offer an impressive range of light control, from soft sheer views to fully closed-off shades. But when you add dual shades into the mix, you’re in for an even greater experience. The Silhouette® Shades with Duolite® feature an integrated blackout roller shade in the headrail, allowing the two shades to operate independently. This gives you the widest range of light control available.

Sheer Layers: Traditional vs. ClearView

For sheer fabrics, you’ll need to decide which option works best for your lifestyle and needs. Silhouette Shades originally offered a soft, dreamy haze giving you a filtered view of the outdoors. Now the ClearView® fabric option provides a crisp and clear view because of the special black fabric used inside. It’s almost like magic!

Of course, many homeowners still prefer the classic, dreamy look of the traditional sheer fabrics. You get to choose the style that fits your home, allowing for complete customization.

What to Do: Doors and Windows

If your home features both windows and doors in the same space, are you wondering how to coordinate them? Silhouette Shades look great on windows AND doors. Whether it’s patio doors, french doors, or sliding glass doors.

Another option is to opt for Silhouette® Shades for the windows and pair them with Luminette® Privacy Sheers for the sliding doors. With matching fabrics, you’ll get a cohesive look, but the functionality of each separate treatment.

Vane Positions

With the solid vanes of sheer shades, there are a couple of ways to position them. One option is to open the vanes fully, allowing light to stream through the sheers and giving you a clear view outside. Secondly, you can close the vanes to block direct light, but still let the soft glow of the shades illuminate your room.

There’s also a flexible in-between option. When the vanes are slightly open, the light can enter toward the floor, brightening your space. You can even tilt the vanes upward toward the ceiling. This is called the Halo™ feature, which beautifully reflects light onto the ceiling. This will create a soft glow while preserving privacy.
